OUR VERDICT

Adobe Firefly is Adobe's AI generator for images, video and audio, with Adobe's own commercially safe models plus partner models such as GPT Image, Nano Banana, FLUX, Runway and Kling in one app. It suits small businesses that want several top models and a strong commercial use promise for a low price, starting free or at $9.99 a month. It is worth it for many users, but the free allowance is not published and Adobe's safety promise does not cover partner models.

What Adobe Firefly is

Firefly is Adobe's family of generative AI models and the app that runs them, on the web and on iOS and Android Adobe Firefly ↗. It makes images, video, speech, music and sound effects, and it edits photos and video Adobe Firefly ↗.

Alongside Adobe's own models, such as Firefly Image 5 and the Firefly Video Model, it offers partner models including GPT Image, Gemini with Nano Banana, FLUX, Runway, Kling AI, Luma AI, Topaz Astra and ElevenLabs Firefly plans ↗ Adobe Firefly ↗. What it does well

Adobe's models are built for business use. Adobe says its Firefly models are trained on licensed content from Adobe Stock and public domain content where copyright has expired, and that their outputs are safe for commercial use Firefly plans ↗ Adobe Firefly ↗. Eligible enterprise customers can get IP indemnification for select outputs Firefly plans ↗.

Many top models live in one place. You can try GPT Image, Nano Banana and FLUX for images and Runway, Kling and Luma for video without signing up for each service Firefly plans ↗. That makes it easy to compare looks.

It covers far more than images. Tools include background and object removal, upscaling, image expansion, video from images, video translation, text to speech, dubbing, music and sound effects Adobe Firefly ↗. Firefly Boards gives you a visual workspace for mood boards and storyboards Adobe Firefly ↗.

It labels its work. Firefly outputs include Content Credentials that show AI was used Adobe Firefly ↗.

It fits Adobe workflows. You can send results into Photoshop or Adobe Express to refine them, and Pro and higher plans include Photoshop on web and mobile plus Adobe Express Premium Firefly plans ↗ Adobe Firefly ↗.

Where it falls short

The free allowance is vague. Adobe says free users get limited daily generations across image, video and audio that refresh every day, but it does not publish the number Firefly plans ↗.

The safety promise has limits. Adobe says you are responsible for judging whether partner model content is right for your project Firefly plans ↗.

Credits go fast on video. Standard's 2,000 monthly credits cover only about 20 five second videos, and credits are shared across images, video and audio Firefly plans ↗. Credits reset each billing cycle and do not roll over Firefly plans ↗.

The plan lineup is complicated, with four individual tiers, three team tiers, promotions and separate Creative Cloud bundles Firefly plans ↗.
