Wix is a website builder with a free AI site generator and an AI agent called Aria that edits your site through chat, plus built in tools for stores, bookings and payments. It is the best free way to get an AI built site and a strong choice for businesses that need booking or ecommerce, but the free plan cannot use your own domain and many users complain about renewals and support.
What Wix is
Wix is one of the best known website builders. You can start from thousands of templates and a drag and drop editor, or let AI build the site for you Wix plans ↗ Wix AI builder ↗. Hosting is included, even on the free plan Wix plans ↗.
The AI website builder asks you to describe your business, goals and style, then generates a site with pages, layout and copy in a few minutes Wix AI builder ↗. Business tools such as scheduling, booking and payments are wired in during that step Wix AI builder ↗.
After that you can edit by dragging things around or by chatting with Aria, Wix's built in AI agent Wix AI builder ↗. Hands on testing is in progress; we will update this review with results.
What it does well
You can try the AI builder for free. Building a site with AI costs nothing to start and needs no credit card, and AI generated sites include free hosting Wix AI builder ↗. Wix says all plans include AI creation tools Wix plans ↗.
Aria makes editing easier. You can ask it to change layouts, add pages, sections and visuals, build custom components such as charts, add ecommerce pages, connect a domain or add products Wix AI builder ↗. It stays available from the editor and dashboard for design and business advice Wix AI builder ↗.
The business tools are broad. Paid plans from Core upward include online payments, ecommerce and bookings, and higher plans add more advanced store and marketing features Wix plans ↗. Wix also offers AI agents for marketing and front desk tasks Wix AI builder ↗.
There are many extra AI helpers. Wix lists an AI text creator, an AI email generator, an AI image creator with background removal, an AI section creator and an AI meta tag tool, plus a free logo maker and business name generator Wix AI builder ↗.
SEO basics are covered. The SEO Assistant gives a page by page checklist, and Wix supports structured data, Google Search Console integration and 301 redirects Wix AI builder ↗.
Where it falls short
The free plan is for trying, not running a business. Connecting your own domain and removing Wix branding need a paid plan, and online payments do too Wix plans ↗ Wix AI builder ↗.
Renewals and support draw complaints. Wix scores 3.4 out of 5 on Trustpilot from more than 29,000 reviews, and 22 percent are one star Trustpilot ↗. Recent complaints describe renewal charges without clear notice, slow or denied refunds, trouble cancelling, and bot driven support with long waits Trustpilot ↗. Wix replies to 86 percent of negative reviews Trustpilot ↗.
The AI is not perfect. Some recent reviewers say the AI editor is slow, does not follow instructions or reverts changes Trustpilot ↗.
Pricing can be confusing. The plans page shows a crossed out price with a 50 percent saving that it does not explain, lists only yearly prices, and is unclear about which plans can connect a custom domain Wix plans ↗. Prices also vary by location and exclude tax Wix plans ↗.
