The iRobot Roomba Max 705 Combo is a Roomba vacuum and heated roller mop with LiDAR mapping, AI that recognizes cords, socks and pet waste, and an AutoWash dock. Its feature list is promising, especially for pet owners, but it was out of stock at iRobot at $1,299.99 when we checked, and iRobot has just changed owners, so most buyers are better off with an in stock model that has strong independent test results.
What the iRobot Roomba Max 705 Combo is
The Roomba Max 705 Combo is a robot vacuum and mop from iRobot, the company behind the Roomba. It is sold alongside a vacuum only version, the Max 705 Vac iRobot ↗.
It navigates with ClearView Pro LiDAR and uses iRobot's PrecisionVision AI to recognize objects such as cords, socks and pet waste iRobot ↗. A feature called Advanced Dirt Detect makes repeat passes over messes it finds iRobot ↗. It cleans with anti tangle dual rubber brushes iRobot ↗.
For mopping it uses a PowerSpin roller mop with heated mopping and PerfectEdge, which extends the mop to walls and corners iRobot ↗. The AutoWash dock empties debris, washes the mop, dries it with heat and cleans itself iRobot ↗. A mop cover comes in the box to keep rugs dry iRobot ↗. It works with the Roomba Home app and home assistants iRobot ↗.
What it does well
Pet waste recognition is the headline feature. iRobot says PrecisionVision AI recognizes pet waste along with cords and socks iRobot ↗. For homes with puppies or older pets, avoiding a mess is worth more than almost any other spec, since a missed accident can be spread across a room.
The roller mop design is a step up for Roomba. A self cleaning roller with heat, plus a dock that washes and heat dries it, is the type of mopping system found on many current flagships iRobot ↗. iRobot claims 10 times better washing of coffee messes than its Roomba 105 Combo iRobot ↗. That is the maker's own comparison.
The brushes are built for hair. Both Max 705 models use anti tangle dual rubber brushes iRobot ↗. iRobot claims 180 times more lifting suction than its older Roomba 600 series iRobot ↗, though it does not give a Pa rating to compare with other brands.
On the vacuum only model, the AutoEmpty bag holds particles as small as 0.7 microns and gives up to 75 days of hands free cleaning, according to iRobot iRobot ↗. Hands on testing on our side is in progress, and we will update this review with results.
Where it falls short
You may not be able to buy it. iRobot's own store listed both the Max 705 Combo and the Max 705 Vac as out of stock when we checked iRobot ↗.
The company is in transition. iRobot completed a court supervised sale to Picea, its main contract manufacturer and secured lender, on January 23, 2026, exiting a pre-packaged Chapter 11 process iRobot press release ↗. iRobot is now privately owned by Picea iRobot press release ↗. The press release commits to supporting customers and created a US subsidiary to protect US consumer data, but it does not address app support, warranty terms or the product line iRobot press release ↗.
Key specs are missing. iRobot's page does not list a suction rating in Pa, runtime, threshold height or carpet lift height for the mop iRobot ↗. It also does not show warranty terms, included items or replacement part prices iRobot ↗.
Independent test data is scarce. None of the lab tested lists we used for our robot vacuum guides included the Max 705 Combo, so we cannot compare its pickup or mopping with other models yet.
The price is high for an unproven model. At $1,299.99 iRobot ↗, it costs about $300 more than our top pick, which has strong independent test results Vacuum Wars ↗.
Pricing and plans
iRobot lists the Roomba Max 705 Combo at $1,299.99, item X185020, but showed it out of stock when we checked iRobot ↗. The Max 705 Vac had no price shown and was also out of stock iRobot ↗.
There is no subscription mentioned for the Roomba Home app iRobot ↗. Ongoing costs will include dust bags, filters, brushes and mop rollers, but iRobot's product page only links to an accessories page without listing prices iRobot ↗. iRobot offers a protection plan and has a returns and warranty page, but the product page does not show the terms iRobot ↗.
