What the Mammotion LUBA 3 AWD 3000 is
The LUBA 3 AWD 3000 is a robot lawn mower from Mammotion that needs no boundary wire Smart Home Compared ↗. It is rated for 0.75 acre, mows about 0.35 acre per charge and handles slopes up to 80 percent, about 38.6 degrees, with all four wheels driven Smart Home Compared ↗ Mammotion ↗.

What it does well
Navigation is the main reason to buy it. It uses three systems at once: a 360 degree LiDAR, RTK positioning from an included reference station or over its built in 4G connection, and dual camera AI vision Smart Home Compared ↗. Under trees or near buildings, where satellite signal drops, LiDAR and the cameras keep it on course. The cameras recognize more than 300 obstacle types, with a physical bumper as backup Smart Home Compared ↗.
TechRadar's reviewer, who used it for a couple of weeks, called it highly recommended for large, complex or hilly lawns TechRadar ↗. He found it avoided obstacles reliably, down to a one inch toy dog bone on the sensitive setting, and climbed a steep, slippery bank TechRadar ↗. He scored its performance 5 out of 5 and praised the build quality, the quiet running and the neat striped finish TechRadar ↗.
It runs a long time. The 12 Ah battery is rated for about 175 minutes and recharges in about 120 minutes Smart Home Compared ↗. You can map up to 30 zones with no go areas, and it crosses obstacles up to 2 inches tall Smart Home Compared ↗.

It is rated IPX6 for water resistance and works with Alexa and Google Home Smart Home Compared ↗. Hands on testing is in progress.
Where it falls short
The standard deck cuts only 1 to 2.7 inches, too short for long grass Smart Home Compared ↗. Mammotion also lists a high cut version at 2.2 to 4 inches for the same price, so pick that if you keep your lawn longer Mammotion ↗.
It does not cut edges, so you still need a trimmer along fences and beds Smart Home Compared ↗ TechRadar ↗. There is no PIN code lock, and scheduling is a fixed calendar that does not adjust for weather or growth Smart Home Compared ↗.
Other caveats: the battery is sealed, and removing it voids the warranty except for disposal Smart Home Compared ↗. The 4G data needs a subscription after three years, and Mammotion does not list that price Smart Home Compared ↗ Mammotion ↗. TechRadar found the app somewhat glitchy and said the front tires can mark grass in shady areas TechRadar ↗.
