The Beatbot AquaSense X is a cordless pool robot with a deck station that rinses its filter and stores debris for up to two months. It is the most hands off pool robot we found and reviewers rate its cleaning highly, but at $3,999 it is a luxury that most pool owners do not need.
What the Beatbot AquaSense X is
The AquaSense X is a cordless robotic pool cleaner that cleans the floor, walls, waterline and water surface, plus shallow platforms of 35 cm or more Beatbot AquaSense X ↗. Its key difference is the AstroRinse station that sits on your pool deck. After a cleaning run, the station washes the filter and moves the debris into a 22 liter bin in about 3 minutes Beatbot AquaSense X ↗.
Beatbot says that bin holds up to two months of debris, so you empty it far less often than a normal robot's basket Beatbot AquaSense X ↗. The station also charges the robot wirelessly Smart Home Compared ↗.
It uses what Beatbot calls HybridSense AI Vision, with 29 sensors including an AI camera and ultrasonic mapping, and recognizes more than 40 types of debris Beatbot AquaSense X ↗ Smart Home Compared ↗. Hands on testing is in progress.
What it does well
Cleaning results are excellent in independent testing. Bob Vila tested it for about two months in two in-ground pools in Florida and found floor, wall and waterline cleaning consistently excellent, handling fine debris, leaves and algae, with good surface skimming. It rated the robot 4.6 out of 5 Bob Vila review ↗.
Maintenance drops sharply. Bob Vila calls the self cleaning dock the main reason for the high price and says it greatly reduces hands on work Bob Vila review ↗. You no longer rinse a dirty filter after every run.
Runtime is long. Smart Home Compared lists about 5 hours for the floor, walls and waterline and up to 10 hours of surface skimming, on a 13,400 mAh battery, with pools up to 3,875 square feet Smart Home Compared ↗.
It fits most pools. Beatbot rates it for in-ground and above ground pools made of concrete, vinyl, fiberglass, tile and stainless steel, and for saltwater up to 5,000 ppm Beatbot AquaSense X ↗. The filter captures particles down to 150 microns Beatbot AquaSense X ↗.
Smart extras are included. When a run ends, it parks at the surface and drains its internal water, making it easier to lift out Beatbot AquaSense X ↗. The app works while it floats, and Bob Vila found it clean and reliable Beatbot AquaSense X ↗ Bob Vila review ↗. An optional clarifier system is sold separately Beatbot AquaSense X ↗.
Where it falls short
The price is the main problem. At $3,999 it costs about three times as much as the AquaSense 2, and Bob Vila says cheaper robots deliver 85 to 90 percent of the cleaning performance Beatbot AquaSense X ↗ Bob Vila review ↗.
It does not dock itself. You still lift the robot out of the pool and place it on the station Smart Home Compared ↗. At 28.9 pounds it is heavy, and Bob Vila's tester strained his back on the first removal Bob Vila review ↗ Smart Home Compared ↗.
The station needs a good spot. Beatbot says it needs flat ground, ventilation, strong Wi-Fi and nearby power and water, out of direct sun Beatbot AquaSense X ↗. Bob Vila calls the dock large Bob Vila review ↗.
Early feedback is thin. The product page shows only 8 customer reviews, averaging 4.4 out of 5, and one beta tester reported the station splashing and leaking under heavy leaf loads, plus Wi-Fi pairing quirks Beatbot AquaSense X ↗.
